Our Golf Professionals
David Lackey, PGA Director of Golf is a native of Orangeburg, S.C. A 1990 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in economics and a minor in psychology, he returned to Orangeburg and the Country Club of Orangeburg after college to begin his golf career. A year later, he had the opportunity to assist in opening a new golf course, Porters Neck Plantation, in Wilmington, N.C. before accepting an assistant professional position in Charlotte, N.C. at Carmel Country Club. In 1997, David was hired to open the new Ballantyne Resort golf course, also located in Charlotte. David was asked to return to Carmel CC in 2001, where he worked as the head assistant professional before assuming the role of interim director of golf. David returned to the club in 2004 where he was named the head golf professional at the Orangeburg Country Club. He was promoted to PGA director of golf at the OCC in 2012.
John “JP” Waldron, PGA Head Golf Professional is a native of Conway, S.C. He graduated from Winthrop College in 1991 with a B.S. degree in business administration/marketing and was elected to PGA Membership in 1996. JP has 20 years experience in the industry with 10 of those years as a head golf professional at various locations, including: World Tour Golf Links, Legends Resort, and The Windermere Club. His notable achievements include two course records, a 2001 “Top 100 Golf Shops” recognition by Golf World, and being named to the 2011 SCPGA Palmetto Cup Team. JP has worked at the OCC since October 2010.

To help you accomplish this goal, we offer a range of fun and informative golf clinics. There are monthly men and women’s golf clinics, as well as seasonal clinics for juniors and pee-wees.
